History of Goa

Goa is not a destination, it is an experience - a confluence, if you will, of cultures even from far beyond the Indian shores. It home to descendants from various dynasties, who between them share ancestries dating as far as the 3rd century BC.

Coming to Goa is like coming to another world. The friendly attitude, casual laid back life, and cultural diversities are just superficial identifiers of this state, for the true Goan roots run much deeper and are formed by a slow but unremitting process of absorption of different cultural strains.

The DNA of Goans is by and large musical. From the rustic local rhythms, core Indian classical tunes all the way to western melodies, Goa's musical affluence indulges all ears and souls.Freedom from colonial rule brought about a cultural renaissance in the stateand gave new impetus to the classic literature, fine arts and revival of the folk arts.

One of the most important things that make Goa unique, are the laws, a legacy that the Portuguese have left behind. The common civil code confers equal status to all religions and accords equal legal status to both sexes, in all matters.

No matter who you are, or what you do; coming to Goa will stay with you forever. More than its physical beauty, its heart will warm your soul, and give you the pleasure of being one with yourself.
